You have a lot of energies in your music. How would you classify it specifically?
Ghetto Metal. Aggressive soul. Its very organic. I don’t want to put a label on anything because that is not being creative.
What are your ties to Hip Hop music?
I am Hip Hop. I relate to it because I am it. That’s like saying how do you relate to that man in the mirror? It is what it is. Hip Hop is also very organic. There are different people and different ways to approach the mike. I’m just a master of ceremony who tries to bring as much creative energy to Hip Hop as possible.
What are the main messages in your music?
Live your life to the fullest. Don’t always wait for someone to do something before you. You can do it yourself. Instead of going and robbing a bank, go rob the education. The library is free. Stay strong. The new day is always coming. Be the best you can be and the universe will take care of you because you put so much into the universe.
What are your main sources of inspiration for all the energy you have on stage?
My wife. The fact that I’m alive and able to do the things that I do. I like to shake things up. I like creating, working on my craft.
Does your relationship with Beverly involve working together also?
I go to work with my wife, she goes to work with me, but the key word is ‘WE’. You know? That’s my wife. That’s my life. Black girls rock!
Is there anything you’d like to add?
Yes. Imus, black girls rock!
