2007 from WORDSnTUNES

2007 from WORDSnTUNES

Happy New Year from WORDSnTUNES!

We would like to thanks all of our supporters for reading our reviews, checking out profiles of upcoming and underground artists and visiting the modeling section too. We hope our schedule section was fun and helpful for you as well.

In January 2008 we will add 2 new sections:

Out in NYC

and

Comments

Out in NYC will talk of fun places to check out in NYC. From fun clubs to cool lounges and hidden restaurants, we’ll talk about it all.

Comments section will allow you to have an input in WORDSnTUNES.

We just began posting videos from shows as well.

We are very happy with 2007 and hope that you feel the same. This year we brought you exclusive coverage and interviews from Hip Hop artists like Ghostface, Method Man, Rakim, Fabulous and much more; R&B stars like Chrisette Michelle, Lyfe Jennings, Mya and many more; Reggae legends like Family Man, Ninjaman and others and even African and Middle-Eastern music coverage of performers like Idan Raichel or Dobet Gnahore.

Check them all out here: Reviews

We brought more attention to lesser known acts like DJ JS-1, DJ Dummy, Poison Pen, Sic Osyrus and more and shone light on upcoming acts like QuietGunz, T-rek, Mane Da MarXman and others.

Our models Alonna James, Wahidah Fowler, KENYA and others were in major music videos, featured as spokepersons, catalogs models and even Playboy models all year long.

We took more exclusive interviews than VIBE Magazine from stars and we didn’t have to feed you BS about useless overpriced gadgets to do it. We only used our own content, doing all interviews, writing all reviews and taking all photos ourselves. We did not blog anything.

We are proud of our accomplishments and are happy to say we’ve been delivering you absolute unadulterated, commercial-free, BS-free, behind-the-scene, backstage and on stage coverage like no other publication. More than that we are THE ONLY publication that focuses exclusively on NYC and delivers such rich content. That is why you will not find ‘ringtone rappers’ on WORDSnTUNES. We did interview MIMS at one point, but hey, 1 a year isn’t so bad, plus the guy is from Washington Heights. We covered every Rakim appearance in our city; picked the brain of some of the best DJs, from extremely precise and divinely expert DJ Premier to philosophically unique brainiac Drummer/DJ ?uestlove; paid homage to old school with covering acts like X-Clan, Slick Rick and Public Enemy; spend time on those who barely need more attention like Akon and John Legend; dug underground to bring you Jeru the Damaja and Immortal Technique; laughed with Paul Mooney; cried with Keyshia Cole; smoked with EPMD; watched Lovebug Starsky and Grandmaster Caz shoot hoops; listened to Junior Reid tell his stories; kicked it with Buckshot after a Boot Camp Click show; got Snoop Dogg irritated (definitely not a New Yorker); shared wisdom with KRS-1; met up with Kanye West and Jay-Z; even repped G-Unit with interviews from the camp; understood the concept of forever talking to Common; finally caught up with Papoose before the end of the year and… Damn, we had a good time in ‘07!!!
